Bariatric surgery

Bariatric surgery is a medical operation for morbidly obese people to reduce their weight. Also known as metabolic or weight loss surgery, it involves advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) procedures to help patients lose weight and resolve or significantly improve co-morbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, sleep apnoea and arthritic pain. There are many medical conditions that can be successfully treated with significant weight loss.

General Surgery

These procedures involve a wide array of common surgical operations, such as gallbladder surgery, hernia operations, appendicectomy, bowel resections and soft tissue excisions. Dr Devadas has performed thousands of open and laparoscopic (minimally invasive) surgical procedures.

Cancer

Unfortunately, cancer inflicts many of us every year. Using a multidisciplinary format, Dr Devadas will tailor your cancer treatment
to your individual needs and the stage of the cancer at diagnosis.
There are many cancer specialists involved in any given patient’s
care; therefore you need a thorough and reliable clinician to oversee
your treatment.

Reflux

Reflux can manifest in many different ways. It may be bile or acid reflux, due to the volume of food or fluid, or its pH/acidity. Patients may have symptoms such as cough, regurgitation, indigestion, waterbrash, asthma, teeth erosions, dysphagia and voice changes. Additionally, a hiatus hernia may cause mechanical or physiological changes, which increase your susceptibility to reflux.

Endoscopy

This involves using a scope that is approximately the size of your finger to look at the internal lining of the upper-gastrointestinal system or the colon. Commonly, it is performed for diagnosis or surveillance of known disease. It is performed using sedation and does not usually require a general anaesthetic. A colonoscopy involves pre-procedure preparation but often you will be able to return to work the day after the procedure.
